02/21/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Stan was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. The finder found him in their building and was able to place him in a bag to bring him to the care center. He allowed all handling upon intake, but became nervous during his initial medical exam and tried to flee. Reaction to assessor: Stan was resting in his cage upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Stan turns to face the assessor and meows. His tail starts to flicker from side to side. Reaction to cage door opening: Stan remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Stan sniffs the assessor’s hand and head-butts. He remains in place and allows all petting, but he whines loudly and seems wary of the environment. Reaction to being picked up: Stan was tense upon pick up, but allows handling. Behavior Determination: Experience Stan tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
