02/07/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Lava was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. He was receptive to introduction upon intake and was quiet and loose for all handling. He also allowed handling during his initial medical exam, but began to growl after some time. Reaction to Assessor: Lava was calm and relaxed upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Lava looks at the assessor with relaxed eyes. Reaction to cage door opening: Lava remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Lava was a bit hesitant, but he sniffs the assessor’s hand and allows gentle petting. After some time he softly whines and seems wary of the environment. Placement Determination: Experience Lava tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
