I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 02/09/2016 from NY 11207, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

02/09/16 09:46 Bernie is an altered domestic short hair that was brought to ACC as a stray. Bernie was laying in the carrier and when the door was opened he took a few steps backwards. He allowed petting but started to lick his nose when handled. when out of the carrier, Bernie became tense and looked around the room. He allowed to be picked up and placed back in the carrier.

Our enrichment facilitator has interacted with Bernie and at the time she was tense, hiding underneath paper. Eyes wide, and alert. Tolerates petting all over. Reaction to assessor: Berine was resting under the paper in the cage When spoken quietly: Berine was resting under the paper in the cage Reaction to door cage opening: Bernie appeared curious of the assessor Reaction to touch: Bernie came to the front of the cage seeking attention. Try picking cat up: Bernie is tolerant of this type of handling. Behavior Determination: Average Bernie was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. At the time of the assessment he was displaying calm behavior, did not come to the front of the kennel at first but interacts with the Assessor, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. Bernie is displaying behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
