11/14/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Scooter was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. His finder reports he was roaming around the streets and was fearful towards strangers, attempting to flee. He was very fearful upon intake and also attempted to flee. However, the medical team reports he tolerated handling during his initial medical exam. The enrichment facilitator reports he was watching their movements intently and pulls back when approached. He allowed them to rub his head, but bobbed back and forth and appeared unsure, possibly trying to flee. He does approach the front when left treats, but appeared tense and alert of his surroundings. Reaction to assessor: Scooter was eating by the front, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Scooter pauses to look at the assessor, and sits upright with his paws close to his body. Reaction to cage door opening: Scooter looks at the opening, but remains calm. Reaction to touch: Scooter sniffs the assessor’s hand and lightly head-butts after. He is a bit hesitant, but leans in for cheek rubs and seems to appreciate attention. He will continue to eat, but arches his back when touched and will start to purr and knead. Reaction to pick up: Scooter remains calm when held and looks around. Behavior Determination: Average Scooter interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
