10/25/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Prince was calm, relaxed, and friendly by the front. Reaction when softly spoken to: Prince gets up and rubs against the cage door, soliciting attention. Reaction to cage door opening: Prince remains by the front and greets the assessor by the opening. Reaction to touch: Prince leans in for petting and begins to purr. After a few strokes along the body, his tail sways from side to side. He appeared to become aroused and will nip the assessor’s hand with moderate pressure. Reaction to being picked up: Prince was a bit tense with pick up, but allows handling. He wiggles to get back down after a while. Behavior Determination: Experience Prince is social and affectionate but appears to be easily overstimulated. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Prince becomes overstimulated. We also recommend fishing pole-type toys for play as they allow for interaction and vigorous, stimulating exercise while keeping human hands at a distance. We recommend this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents and any future home with children should conduct a thorough interaction before adopting. Date: 09/29/16 Reaction to assessor: Prince looks neutral, lying down on his cage bedding when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Prince remains in place, relaxed body posture, alert with soft eyes. Reaction to touch: Prince stands with tail up then head-butts the assessor’s hand and appreciates petting on the head and body. Reaction to Being Picked up: He calmly jumps back into the cage. Placement determination: Average Prince interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
