***SAFE 04/19/16*** MIXER’S LIFE HANGS BY A THREAD, FIV+ and ‘NEW HOPE ONLY’….MIXER’S life so far has been a difficult one. He’s lost alot of fights, and there has been little to no kindness in his life. He has an unusual pattern to his coat, and he’s a big handsome fellow who is afraid. MIXER should have been ‘TNR’d’ but he comes from an area of Brooklyn where ‘stray cats’ are kicked, have things thrown at them, are cursed as ‘vermin’. And so someone either thinking they were doing him a favor, or wanting to rid the neighborhood of ‘vermin’ trapped this boy and carted him into ACC. MIXER could be ‘that cat’ that is the miracle, the ‘good deed’ cat that is swept up and out of ACC, to life…for without someone to step forward for him he’ll be dead instead. Please don’t let that happen, believe that this handsome guy can become, with patience, and kindness, the cat who came in from the cold with love. MIXER can live with other non FIV+ cats-he is the cat who lost the fights, probably for not being aggressive and just wanting something to eat. Please save this boy, and give him a chance to live not die.

04/17/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Mixer was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. Reaction to assessor: Mixer is motionless, hiding in the litter box. Reaction when softly spoken to: Mixer is tense with eyes focused on the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Mixer remains neutral at the back. Reaction to touch: Mixer’s ears flatten and leans away as you approach. He hisses then tries to swat and bite. Mixer allows no contact. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Mixer is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to swat, bite and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
