11/30/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Blast was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. Reaction to assessor: Blast was curled up in the back of the kennel and was stress meowing at the assessor. Reaction when softly spoken to: Blast lip licks, watches the assessor with wide eyes and continues to stress meow. Reaction to cage door opening: Blast becomes alert. Reaction to touch: Blast sniffs the assessor’s hand and becomes immobile when the assessor starts petting him. He slowly gains confidence, warms up when rubbed on his cheeks then comes forward slowly and gives the assessor head butts. His body posture is low, he looks around scanning his environment and he seems to be easily startled. Reaction to being picked up: Blast was a bit tense when picked up then gets antsy and leaps away. Please note that Blast is being treated for an upper respiratory infection at the time of the behavior assessment. This condition may affect some of the behaviors shown during evaluation. Behavior Determination: Experience Blast may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
