I am a spayed female brn tabby domestic sh mix. The shelter thinks I am about 8 YEARS old.
I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 06/10/2017 from NY 10458, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

Tigress A1114937 was placed At Risk for Behavior- Tigress remains soft and relaxed when approached for interactions, but quickly becomes agitated when pet. She only allows brief petting on her head and hisses hard to stop interactions. She will remain tense for the duration of the interaction and will shift away to avoid further contact. Because she is only allowing limited interaction, we recommend she be placed into a stable home environment as quickly as possible.

06/10/17 20:17 Tigress is a DSh who whose owner passed away. She allowed finders to pick her up and handle her to put into a carrier. During her intake she stayed in a crouch position but she allowed all hnadling and would occasionally attempt to flee but allowed counsleor to grab her and pick her up.

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Independent MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 6/11/17- Observed Behavior – growled a little during exam but allows handling ENRICHMENT NOTES: 6/11/17- In litter box cubby, looking around, a little tense. Came slowly out to shelf for treats, eyes dilated, hunched low. Started hissing when spoken to. Charged cage front when offered treats, didn’t actually strike. Sniffed hand between the bars, then retreated back into litter box. 6/12/17 Dozing in litter box, woke when spoken to. Sat up when door opened, posture a little tense. Tolerated pets while eating, then leaned away, hissed, and lifted paw. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Tigress remained relaxed body lying down, head up with soft eyes on her cage bedding during the approach. Reaction to cage door opening: Tigress remained in place, ears forward and erect. Reaction to touch: Tigress allows a brief touch on the head, but becomes malaise and softly hissed. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Tigress may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
