11/16/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
11/16/16 12:17 Pebbles is a six month old domestic short hair who was adopted by her previous owner when she was four weeks old. Pebbles was described as a little shy. She didn’t like to be pet or held by her previous family. During intake, Pebbles curled into a ball on the table and was shaking. She allowed for collaring and to be picked up and put back in her carrier. Pebbles lived with her brother, who she liked to play roughly with. She did not live with dogs or children. Pebbles is litter box trained. She will sometimes scratch a specific wood chair in the house, but has never had a scratching post to redirect on. Pebbles was given baths as a young kitten, but none have been attempted recently. She has never been brushed or had her nails trimmed. Pebbles will struggle when being picked up, and previous owner stated that Pebbles once attempted to bite her when she was being picked up. Pebbles was reported to have a medium activity level. She prefers to hang out by herself and rarely seeks attention from people, but will cuddle and play with her brother. Pebbles is used to eating dry food. She had an uncovered litter box with clumping litter.

11/20/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Pebbles’ previous owner reports she is a little shy. She doesn’t like to be pet or held by her owners, but liked to play rough with her brother. The owner reports she may try to nip when trying to pick her up. She prefers to hang out by herself and rarely seeks attention from people. She allowed handling during the intake process, but was curled up into a ball, shaking throughout the process. Please note that Pebbles is being treated for an upper respiratory infection at the time of the behavior assessment. This condition may affect some of the behaviors shown during evaluation. Reaction to assessor: Pebbles was lying down, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Pebbles looks at the assessor and blinks softly. Reaction to cage door opening: Pebbles remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Pebbles lowers her head and starts to tremble when pet. She is very nervous and appeared unsure, but starts to purr. Behavior Determination: Experienced, No Children Pebbles tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
