BARKLEY – A1075551
Safe - 6-5-2016 Brooklyn Rescue: Feline Rescue of SI Please honor your pledges: http://felinerescueofstatenisland.org/donation/
**SAFE 06/05/16** NEW HOPE RESCUE is needed for BARKLEY, an 11-month-old youngster who was taken to the shelter as a stray on May 29th. His shelter notes show a frightened kitten whose ears are filled with MITES, which has to be distractingly uncomfortable all by itself. Imagine the feeling of one’s ears being jam packed with creepy crawlers, and then layer a healthy dose of FEAR on top of that—it’s no wonder Barkley earned a NEW HOPE rating. This guy needs someone in his corner, someone who can pull him from the shelter and make his world a happy place. That is a job for a NEW HOPE rescue, and those rescues need trustworthy people to foster/adopt because Barkley needs somewhere to live when he is pulled. If that sounds like YOU, please message [email protected] and our trained volunteers will assist. Otherwise, please pledge toward his care, share his sad story, and SAVE BARKLEY TONIGHT!

06/01/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Barkley was hiding in the cat den when I approached cage When spoken quietly: Barkley continues to hide Reaction to door cage opening: Barkley watches me careful with wide eyes Reaction to touch: Barkley hisses, swats and tries to flee Try picking cat up: Did not attempt Behavior Determination: NewHope Barkley was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. Barkley seems to not be thriving in this environment and at the time of the assessment he was displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. Barkley may require further investigation before placement in a home. He is extremely fearful and currently does not tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
