Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Vans was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. The enrichment facilitator has been monitoring Vans and reports that he was hesitant of contact, but allowed petting with a slow approach when he first arrived. His eyes were focused intensely on all movements and would meow loudly from time to time when touched along his body. Reaction to assessor: Vans cries out and reaches out with paws. Reaction when softly spoken to: Vans meows then rubs up against the kennel door. Reaction to cage door opening: Vans is calm and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Vans sniffs the assessor’s hand and allows petting all over. His tail is up and he is very affectionate. Reaction to being picked up: Vans is a bit tense and cries out to be put down. Behavior Determination: Average Vans interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
