SAFE 8/22/17- HERE ALMOST A MONTH! Don’t let his resting grump face fool you! Tropical is a super adorable and friendly kitty who needs follow up care for his entropion and conjunctivitis. Despite spending most of his day with his eyes closed, this cutie perks up the second someone starts talking to him – he even chirps back in turn sometimes! You can find this loveable, big-cheeked gentleman in Adoptions at the Brooklyn Care Center.

Tropical was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:
Attention seeking, head butting, allowed all handling, tried to move around table and explore, resisted handling for eye treatment
EVALUATION:
Cage Condition: Cage is neat
Reaction to assessor: Tropical was relaxed and lying down on his blanket near the back of the cage.
Reaction when softly spoken to: Tropical rubs his body up against the cage door but got startled then retreated into his cubby.
Reaction to cage door opening: Tropical slowly comes out the cubby to greet.
Reaction to touch: Tropical sniffs the assessor’s hand, accepts petting then leans in for rubs on his cheeks. He purrs when pet, gives head butts and is very affectionate.
Reaction to being picked up: Tropical was a bit tense when held, then got antsy and tried to leap out of the assessor’s arms.

Tropical interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat can go to a beginner home.

Recheck conjunctivitis/entropion. Was on erythromycin for 10 days-today was last day.
S/O: BARH. Active, allows all handling
EENT: Pink mm, eyes clear, no ocular or nasal discharge, ears wnl. Moderate blepharospasm with entropion bilaterally. Does not appreciate ocular exam. Cornea clear with no scarring.
INTEG: Patchy alopecia around tail base

P: Continue to monitor while at BACC.
Recommend ophthalmology consult and possible surgical correction of entropion
Recommend giving flea medications (Frontline) every 2 weeks instead of every 4 for flea allergy dermatitis. If skin does not improve recommend dermatology consult
