12/01/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Toffee was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. Reaction to assessor: Toffee was lying down at the back of the kennel behind her bedding. Reaction when softly spoken to: Toffee stretches then slowly comes forward to sniff the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Toffee hisses then moves away. Reaction to touch: Toffee grumbles and seems unsure of contact when the assessor approaches. She quickly rushes forward then stops in order to sniff the assessor’s hand. She allows petting on her head with a very slow approach but seems to get irritated when touched along her back. Her body becomes tense then she hisses and retreats to the back of the kennel. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Toffee tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
