***SAFE 10/13/16*** SYLVESTER IS ONLY 5 MONTHS OLD AND FRIGHTENED – ANOTHER HEALTHY ADOPTABLE KITTEN TO BE KILLED TOMORROW! The ACC has no time or effort for any kittens who are not super cuddly and friendly. Someone trapped poor SYLVESTER outside and dumped him in the shelter. Of course this baby is afraid! But they won’t do anything more for him to find him a home. That’s where YOU come in. SYLVESTER needs some patience and food bribery to relax and learn that not all humans will be out to get him. IF YOU CAN HELP THIS CUTIE PIE, PLEASE HURRY AND CONTACT A RESCUE NOW TO FOSTER OR ADOPT!!

09/29/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Sylvester was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. The enrichment facilitator has been monitoring Sylvester and reports he was nervous at the back of the kennel and tolerates petting but would hiss while doing so. He flinches and hisses when initially touched but will allow petting all over with slow, gentle approach. Reaction to assessor: Sylvester was curled up tight on his blanket at the font of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Sylvester feint sleeps and slowly turns his head away from the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Sylvester remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Sylvester hisses upon approach and flinches when first touched on his head. He closes his eyes when petted with a slow approach and slowly tilts his head allowing rubs. Reaction to being picked up: Sylvester has a tense body when held, gets uncomfortable then leaps away. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Sylvester tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
