Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Nell came into the care center as a stray, found in a residential building. She was fearful at intake and difficult to restrain for her initial medical examination (hissing, growling), but she seems to be acclimating well to her new caretakers and at the time of her behavior evaluation Nell is readily interacting and soliciting attention. Reaction to assessor: Nell is resting in her cage when the assessor approaches. Reaction to cage door opening: Nell remains in place, body soft. Reaction to touch: Nell leans into the assessor’s hand, head butts, and rubs on her hand to solicit petting. After the assessor closes the cage door Nell rolls onto her side, kneading her paws in the air. Placement determination: Average Nell interacts with the Assessor, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
