Behavior
As per previous owner, Around strangers Summer is friendly, outgoing and plays gently with adults. Summer has lived with chidlren. She is relaxed and affectionate around them. Summer also plays gently with children. Summer has never lived with any other cats or dogs so it is unknown how he will react to being around them.
Reaction to assessor: Summer looks at the assessor timidly from the back of the cage
When spoken quietly: Summer continues to look at the assessor from the back of the cage
Reaction to door cage opening: Summer remains motionless
Reaction to touch: Summer seems indifferent to my presence and touch
Try picking cat up: Summer is tolerant of this type of handling but tense.
Behavior Determination: Experience
At the time of the assessment Summer was displaying timid behavior. He does not seek attention from the assessor and becomes alert when the kennel was open. Summer remains motionless as I started to get closer but after a steady slow approach using soft voices he relaxed a little. I was able to pet him and interact with him. I was also able to pick him up and although he was tense no fractious behavior was display. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
