***SAFE 08/31/16*** SOMEONE RETURNED THIS GORGEOUS CAT PUMPKIN TO THE SHELTER FOR LANDLORD ISSUES – NOW THIS GREAT PUMPKIN IS GOING TO DIE FOR HAVING A COLD THE SHELTER GAVE HIM!! PUMPKIN is quite a character – yet you will see the difference in the comments of the regular ACC staff that prods and pokes at these cats and a volunteer who got to know him. A volunteer writes: Pumpkin is so sweet. He loves when you pet him. He likes when he is in your arms. Pumpkin likes to play. He likes fishing pole-type toys. A busy play time helps use up Pumpkin’s energy. It is fun for both you and Pumpkin! He is really a sweetheart. So, if a playful, and loving cat is what you are looking for, come down to the Manhattan Animal Care Center and take Pumpkin home! A volunteer writes: Pumpkin is a bigger boy with an interior design background and lap cat aspirations. I noticed he had made quite an interesting nest of blankets for himself in his condo. I opened his door to assist with some blanket organization but he immediately put his paws on my shoulder, insisting to be picked up. While in my arms, Pumpkin was happy and alert, purring as he surveyed the Care Center. Each time I opened his condo door, he jumped up to my shoulders with the same enthusiasm and eagerness to be held. Now, as I mentioned, he’s a bigger boy, and I’m not sure if he knows it, so if carrying around a happy 13 pound cat isn’t your thing, don’t worry because he’ll be just as happy to snuggle up on your lap. WHO ARE YOU GOING TO BELIEVE? PUMPKIN SCORED A HIGH RECOMMENDATION IN MY BOOK!! HE IS GOOD WITH CHILDREN AND LOVES TO PLAY. HURRY AND ADOPT OR FOSTER THIS GRAY BOY BEFORE NOON ROLLS AROUND. 08/08/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Pumpkin immediately comes soliciting at the front of the cage. Reaction to door opening: Pumpkin remains standing at the front of the cage, relaxed body posture, soliciting attention. Reaction to touch: Pumpkin head-butts the assessor’s hand and appreciates petting on the head and body. However, after a few strokes pets he focuses on the hand and began to play box with no claws. Reaction to Being Picked up: He allows the pickup, but wiggles back into the cage. Placement determination: Experience Pumpkins solicits attention and tolerates petting, but may play roughly. We also recommend fishing pole-type toys for play as they allow for interaction and vigorous, stimulating exercise while keeping human hands at a distance.
