Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Speedy was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. His finder reports he has been wandering around their yard for a few days and has been feeding him. He was a bit nervous during intake, but allowed to be petted. The medical team reports he allowed handling during his initial medical exam. The enrichment team reports he appeared nervous during their first interaction, but he really perks up with attention. He initially focused on treats, but shifted his attention to them and was friendly and social. Reaction to assessor: Speedy was calm and relaxed upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Speedy stretches, approaches the front, and head-butts the cage door gently. Reaction to cage door opening: Speedy remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Speedy head-butts and nudges the assessor with his nose, purring. He begins to drool and is very affectionate throughout the interaction. Reaction to pick up: Speedy remains calm and allows all handling. Behavior Determination: Beginner Speedy interacts with the observer, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting.
