12/04/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Ashley was brought in without information on her behavioral tendencies in her previous home. Her finder reports she did not like being picked up and will run and hide. The medical team reports she was crouched over by the back, attempting to flee and hissing. She did allow them to conduct all handling, however, with minimal restraint. Reaction to assessor: Ashley had a low body posture, lying flat against her bedding. Reaction when softly spoken to: Ashley looks at the assessor with almond-shaped eyes. Reaction to cage door opening: Ashley remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Ashley was hesitant, but she remains I’m place and allows gentle petting. Her ears tilt sideways, but she closes her eyes during the interaction. Reaction to pick up: Ashley curls up during pick up and allows handling. When placing her back, she slowly walks towards the back and lies back down. Behavior Determination: Experienced Ashley tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. Because of her stress levels in the care center, we recommend any future home with children conduct a thorough interaction before adopting.
