SOPHIA – A1063985
Gone - 2-4-2016 Manhattan
** GONE 02/04/16 *** * Has gotten along with DOGS and CATS, SOPHIA is a gorgeous lady who knows what she likes! This spayed sweetie has lived with her former owner for all of her 8 years, and must be tremendously confused to have been brought to the shelter and left behind. She may not be madly in love with strangers and belly rubs may not be her favorite thing, but is a lovebug once she considers someone her friend. Independence and affection are two nice features in a cat, and SOPHIA brings both qualities to the table. This pretty kitty will be killed tomorrow as a tragic consequence of her people moving away, unless a FOSTER or ADOPTER steps up for her tonight!

02/02/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Please note that this cat is being treated for a significant medical condition. We cannot be sure how this condition may be influencing her behavior in the care center, so we advise that her behavior may change as her medical condition is addressed. The former owner states that Sophia is not friendly with strangers. She plays well with adults, but does not like to have her belly rubbed. The former owners young son stated that she allows to be pet by strangers on the head and body only, but will swat when she wants you to stop. She plays well with other dogs and cats, but will swat when they get too close to her face. Also, described her as independent, not so friendly with strangers but is affectionate but likes to be alone most of the time. Reaction to assessor: Sophia looks neutral in her cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Sophia remains sitting upright by standing at the front of the cage, soliciting attention. Reaction to touch: Sophia stands with tail up, purrs during the stroke but becomes agitated when touch along the back and meow whines at the assessor’s hand. Placement determination: Experience / no child Sophia tolerates attention and petting but may be stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children. 2/3 additional note: Sophia is social and affectionate provided the handler touches only her front end. We see a clear behavior change when touched and pet near her back end.
