Safe - 6-29-2016 Brooklyn Rescue: Staten Island Hope Please honor your pledges: http://www.statenislandhoperescue.org/
***SAFE 06/29/16*** Handsome gray tabby looking to be your best furry friend! SCOUT is a 3 year old male who was found as a stray and brought into the shelter where sadly, he’s on tomorrow’s list for euthanasia. SCOUT is healthy and ready for some cat-pampering and TLC! This cute gray guy is a little afraid at the shelter, but he lets himself be pet. He would be great in an experienced pet home with no children, where SCOUT can have a calm happy place to live and get to know his owner slowly. Once he trusts them, he’ll be purr-fectly wonderful! Don’t let this sweet young guy die tomorrow. He has so much potential. Just one look at that sweet little face, and it will melt your heart!! Please save handsome SCOUT today!!!!

06/20/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Our enrichment facilitator has interacted with Scout and at the time he was uncomfortable. Scout tolerates petting briefly then attempts to flee. Scout is uncomfortable being touched. Scout had his tail lowered. Reaction to assessor: Scout was hiding in the cat den when i approached cage When spoken quietly: Scout continues to hide Reaction to door cage opening: Scout retreats Reaction to touch: Scout allows brief petting before trying to flee Try picking cat up: Scout is not tolerant of this type of handling Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Scout was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. At the time of the assessment she was displaying fearful behavior; does not seek attention from the assessor and becomes alert when the kennel was open. Retreats as I started to get closer. I was able to pet him and interact with him in a limited way. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents with no children.
