Sasha is a 12 neutered year old Orange Tabby. He was given to owner from the previous one and has been in owners care for a year. He is being surrendered into the center due to conflict with child in home. There are no known health injuries or concerns.
Around strangers he is shy and doesn’t play with adults. He is lived with a 17 year old and is aggressive, he will hiss and swat. She has spent time with another female cat and is fearful and will hide. Behavior is unknown with dogs. There is no known history of him biting another animal or person.
Sasha scratches people. During care he is afraid. He rarely has litter box accidents, when it happened he is peeing outside of the box. This has been occurring less than a month and a vet hasn’t been seen for the issue. The problem occurred when son wasn’t home and he soiled the bed. He has never been given a bath, will struggle when getting his nails trimmed and isn’t bothered when coat is being brushed. He struggles when being placed in a carrier and being picked up and held.
Sasha is described as being independent with a low activity level that would do best in a home with no children. He loves to head-butt and will follow owner around. He was indoors only and sleeps on the couch. He east both wet and dry food Blue Bonnet brand at least two times a day. His favorite treats is Roasted Chicken. He is litter box trained using a hooded box with clumping litter. He scratched on a post made of carpet.
As per previous owner, Around strangers Sasha is shy and doesn’t play with adults. He lived with a 17 year old. He would hiss and swat at the teenager. He has spent time with another female cat and is fearful and will hide. Behavior is unknown with dogs.
Reaction to assessor: Sasha does not come to front but looks at you relaxed and friendly
When spoken quietly: Sasha comes to the front of cage soliciting attention
Reaction to door cage opening: Sasha tries to calmly walk out of the cage
Reaction to touch: Sasha solicits petting and attention
Try picking cat up: Sasha is tolerant of this type of handling
Behavior Determination: Beginner
At the time of the assessment Sasha was displaying friendly behavior, comes to the front of the kennel, interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. Sasha is displaying behavior appropriate for a beginner cat owner.
