**SAFE 07/01/16** A volunteer writes: Sitting in her kitty condo like a monarch on her throne is beautiful Roamie, a chunky panda of a cat with velvet-soft fluffy fur. Gregarious and comfortable with people, she’ll happily come over to you to score some affection and treat you to gentle head butts in return. When she’s done with petting, however, she’ll amble off on her own for some solo time. This lovely lady came to us from a home, and her former owner vouched that Roamie is friendly but also independent; she lived with two male cats and was especially in love with one of them. This straight shooter with the autonomous streak wants to be the queen of your castle. Can you make it happen for our royal, regal Roamie?…..GIVE ROAMIE A HOME TONIGHT!! 06/19/16 13:02 BASIC INFORMATION Roamie is a black and white spayed DSH cat that is 6 years old. The owner found her when she was 6 months old as a stray at an airport. He can no longer care for his cat due to moving to an apartment that does not allow pets. She has no known illness. SOCIALIZATION Roamie has never lived or has been introduced to children. She approaches strangers and rubs against them but will swat them if they pet her. This doesn’t break skin the first time, but if they try to pick her up she may swat and break skin. She hasn’t broken skin in the past 10 days. She has never bit anyone. Roamie has never lived with dogs. She has lived with 2 male cats in the home, both around her age. She would often cuddle with one of the other cats. She avoided the other cat and if he approached her, they would swat each other and she would run away and hide. BEHAVIOR When picked up, Roamie struggles and may scratch in trying to flee. This may break skin but hasn’t in the past 10 days. She struggled during a nail trim at the vet. She struggles when put into a carrier. She is nervous in the car. FOR NEW FAMILIES TO KNOW Roamie is described as friendly, playful, independent, shy, and low-medium energy. She lived inside and slept on her owner’s bed. She ate science diet and Purina dry cat foods and enjoyed cat treats and cold cuts. She used an uncovered litterbox with clumping litter. She scratched yoga mats. INTAKE Roamie hissed and swatted during intake and counselors were unable to collar her. She didn’t show any aggressive behavior during her medical exam. She was low in her carrier but allowed staff to remove her. She was nervous but allowed all handling during her exam.
