10/30/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Quarte was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in a previous home. Reaction to assessor: Quarte laid on her blanket, motionless but alert, legs curled under her body, and began breathing rapidly and lip licking. Reaction when softly spoken to: Quarte remained motionless and continued to breath rapidly and lip lick. She made eye contact but also shifted eyes around room. Reaction to cage door opening: Quarte remained motionless and focused eyes on the opening. Reaction to touch: Quarte hissed, pulled away to avoid being touched, and retreated to litter box at very back of cage. Continued to lip lick and breath rapidly. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Quarte is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time
