**SAFE 07/02/16** SENIOR GENT POOKIE WAS DUMPED IN THE ACC BY HIS OWNER WHO SEEMED TO HAVE NEGLECTED HIM. POOKIE is a 10 yr old boy who seems to have some digestive issues and is overweight. His fur is matted most likely because he cannot reach areas to groom himself. POOKIE is tense and afraid in the shelter but not at all aggressive as he only swatted but without using his claws. This poor cat is confused and not feeling well and all the ACC can think of doing is to destroy his life so they don’t have to deal with him. POOKIE is only stressed in the shelter – can you blame him? How do you think any cat who lived with someone for 10 yrs would feel at being abandoned? PLEASE HELP THIS HANDSOME TUXIE BOY HAVE A NICE RETIREMENT HOME AND NOT FIND OUT WHAT THE ACC HAS PLANNED FOR HIM AT NOON! CONTACT A RESCUE NOW TO PULL HIM TO SAFETY!!

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Pookie is asleep on approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Pookie remains asleep. Reaction to cage door opening: Pookie wakes up, but remains motionless and does not respond. Reaction to touch: Pookie tolerates the assessor’s presence and touch at first, then gently nips and bats the assessor’s hand away without claws. Behavior Determination: Experienced, no children Pookie tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his or her new home. He may have some behavioral issues that will need to be addressed in the home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
