**SAFE 07/01/16** A volunteer writes: Ten totally true facts about Ocean: she weighs about as much as a newborn baby, sports fur as soft as cotton, enjoys sitting in laps, has a thing for catnip and stuffed toys, lived with three young kids in her former home (and was affectionate with them), had a cat buddy there who she got on well with, adores looking out the window, is A-OK with car rides, used to sleep with her previous owner, and has never had an litterbox accident. Oh, one more thing, she needs a new family to love her. Do you have room on your couch for our wonderful girl Ocean?….OCEAN needs a check-up with a competent vet to resolve her skin issue but that’s a small price to pay for this joyful little gem!! 06/19/16 14:09 BASIC INFORMATION Ocean is a 1 year old female DSH cat. Her owner got her from a friend when she was 2 weeks old. She has to surrender her due to allergies. Over the past 2 months, Ocean has lost fur on the back of her left rear leg and it’s became raw and possibly infected. SOCIALIZATION Ocean is shy with new people at first. She lived with 3 children ages 6-12 and is relaxed, affectionate, and tolerant with them. She will play somewhat rough if someone is playing rough with her, but otherwise plays exuberantly. She lived with an adult female cat and was relaxed, affectionate, tolerant, and played somewhat rough with her. She hasn’t bit anyone. BEHAVIOR Ocean is relaxed on the subway. She enjoys being brushed and falls asleep. She doesn’t mind when someone picks her up, holds her, puts her in a carrier, or wakes her up. FOR NEW FAMILIES TO KNOW Ocean’s family describes her as friendly, affectionate, playful, quiet, and high energy. She follows them and sits in their lap. She played with string, stuffed toys, and catnip toys. She lived inside but would sit on the outside of the window sill. She slept with her owner or on high places. She ate dry food and got chicken as a treat. She’s littertrained, used an uncovered litterbox with clumping litter, and didn’t have accidents. She didn’t scratch anything. INTAKE Ocean was tense but tolerant while I pet her, scanned her (-), collared her, picked her up, positioned her for pictures, and put her in a carrier. She lied down on the backdrop. She didn’t resist, retreat, or vocalize.
