**SAFE 04/25/16** EMERGENCY CARE NEEDED FOR PEANUT STAT!!…..PEANUT is having serious neurological issues and is having seizures. The ACC is saying PEANUT has a poor prognosis when they don’t even know what’s wrong!! PLEASE MAKE IT A PRIORITY TO GET PEANUT OUT OF THE ACC TONIGHT!! What is needed here is a FOSTER and a pull from a NEW HOPE rescue so this cat can get the care it truly needs!! TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!! I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 04/18/2016 from NY 11420, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

04/22/16 09:48 BAR perched sternally on top of cage, PLRs intact, no observed seizures overnight A: h/o seizure and intermittent neuro signs P: plea NH for rescue and workup, continue monitoring in medical 4/21 vet check for seizure in medical qar adequate hydration mm pink altered mentation, is not aware of my presence until touched, absent menace, PLR intact, seems to follow light beam on side of kennel weakly. walks aroud kennel unaware of food and water dishes, steps in them unknowingly h/l nma eupneic abd tense but malleable abnormal postural thrust when taken out of kennel and placed on side, does not attempt to right herself avulsed nails a; cns lesion r/o infectious vs congenital does not seem to be in pain or distress currently poor prognosis p; rec ehr at stray wait or if seizes again

Reaction to assessor: Peanut looks neutral lying down on his cage bedding when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Peanut remains in place, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Peanut leans away from the assessor’s hand at first, but began to accept the stroke with a low tail flick, while she remains cautious with her surroundings. Placement determination: Experience Peanut tolerates attention and petting, but may be stressed in the shelter. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.

Medical rating was 3 NC – MAJOR CONDITIONS NOT CONTAGIOUS, behavior rating was NONE
Partial exam due to temperament. Scanned negative QAR – unable to determine hydration. Unable to determine sex or age due to temperament. Animal appears painful on right hind leg. Rabies vaccine given left hind leg. At first believed animal might be paralyzed; however on exam it began shrieking and struggling. Bit towel used for wrap/exam. Tried to bite handler. Vet authorized burprenex for the evening and morning with sedation and reexam in the morning. 0.21mL given at 8:00 pm. NOSF
