11/08/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Onyx was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. Reaction to assessor: Onyx was lying down at the back of the kennel with wide eyes focused on the assessor. Reaction when softly spoken to: Onyx lip licks, remains motionless and doesn’t get up or come forward when coaxed. Reaction to cage door opening: Onyx remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Onyx has a tense body and rises up with his ears bent flat when the assessor extends his hand out. He hisses and rushes forward trying to swat and allows no contact. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Onyx is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to swat, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
