MOOLA – A1075158
Gone - 5-31-2016 Brooklyn
***GONE 05/31/16*** Pretty MOOLA is guesstimated to be about 2 years of age, which means she’s had plenty of time to learn what danger looks like when she sees it. Her strong sense of self-preservation has alerted her to the clear fact that the ACC is a very dangerous place for her to be, so Moola has been very careful to keep her guard up every time the ACC staff have tried to interact with her. Naturally they just slapped her with a NEW HOPE rating and popped her on tonight’s huge At-Risk List….but it’s curious that they are SO unable to handle a cat, until it comes time to give that same cat a lethal injection. Suddenly, any cat can be handled by the shelter staff, which is part of why the word “care” in their name, rings so hollow. Please help MOOLA—only a NEW HOPE rescue can pull her to safety tonight!

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Moola was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. Reaction to assessor: Moola was hiding inside the feral den. Reaction when softly spoken to: Moola makes eye contact but doesn’t come forward. Reaction to cage door opening: Moola remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Moola has wide eyes focused on all movements and lip licks as you approach. She lowers her body then hisses and swats when attempting to make contact. She currently doesn’t allow any handling. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Moola is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. She has tried to swat, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
