MISU – A1065433

*** SAFE 02/24/16 *** SOS! “Officers say while driving they spotted Misu attempting to drag his body down the street, due to being unable to move its back legs.” How heartbreaking is that? Misu is not even 2 years old, and her true condition is unknown—the ACC thinks she might have a pelvic fracture but competent veterinary care is CLEARLY needed for her. Even though she is available to be adopted directly, a FOSTER is probably the best thing for her! That way, the New Hope rescue will foot the vet bill and the foster parent can concentrate on nursing her back to health. Look at those huge green eyes, that alert and charming expression—MISU WANTS TO LIVE! Make that possible by either adopting her tonight and taking care of her medical needs, or by fostering her and having those expenses taken care of by a rescue. Have a heart—save MISU tonight!

02/21/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Misu was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. She was spotted in the street and appeared injured. She was unable to move her back legs. The finder reports she hissed initially, and attempted to swat when picked up. She was very alert during her initial medical exam and was hissing and growling, but she did not show any outward aggression. Please note that this cat is being treated for a medical condition at the time of evaluation. It is difficult to determine at this time how the medical condition may be affecting the behavior. Reaction to assessor: Misu hisses upon approach, but has a relaxed body posture. Reaction when softly spoken to: Misu looks at the assessor and lip licks, and then starts to grumble. Reaction to cage door opening: Misu remains in place and appears tense. Reaction to touch: Misu was hesitant at first, but she leans into petting and her growling stops. She relaxes and starts to knead on her bedding. She still appears wary of her environment and will grumble again when interaction stops, but she will stop grumbling when being petted. Reaction to being picked up: Did not attempt due to injury. Behavior Determination: Experience Misu tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may need time to warm up to his new home. In spite of an injury, Misu seems to appreciate attention when petted. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
