CAW SLAW – A1065400
Safe - 2-26-2016 Manhattan Rescue: Anjellicle Cats Rescue Please honor your pledges: http://bit.ly/CawSlawA1065400
**SAFE 02/26/16** Handsome CAW SLAW belonged to someone who couldn’t say “no” to additional cats, or who at least, couldn’t figure out how to stop making more of them. That person did not spay Caw Slaw’s mother, the number of felines was on the rise, and the landlord finally said “enough is enough—some of these cats must go!” CAW CLAW and his brother, Blinx, were brought to the ACC and the rest is history. A few days warehoused in the shelter, an EXPERIENCE rating, and now, being included on the euth list. CAW SLAW comes across in his notes as a gentle but active boy who loves wand toys and who actually got loose during his admission process! An ACO described him as being “very smart” but that praise won’t keep him safe when the euth technician comes calling tomorrow. Please find a FOSTER or ADOPTER who can be the hero for CAW SLAW, tonight!

02/21/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
02/21/16 15:16 Basic info: Caw Slaw is a 1 year old male, domestic short hair cat. Her former owner had her mother too so Blinx and Caw Slaw where born in the home. The former owner brought the cats to the shelter because she has too many cats and her land lord told said she has to get rid of some of them. Socialization: With strangers this cat is normally a little shy at first but will warm up quickly. The cat is pretty gentle when it comes to play time. The cat has minimal experience with children but has been around a few older kids in the past. The cat did not really interact with the kids. Caw Slaw gets along pretty well with other cats. He is coming from a home with six other cats. Behavior History: Caw Slaw has never bitten a person or another animal. He does have a habit of playing near the window and sometimes tries to get out of the window. He doesn’t seem to mind the car the few times he has been in one. Caw Slaw does not like to be held or carried. He hisses and struggles when put in a carrier. For a new family to know: Caw Slaw’s owner describes him as friendly, independent, and medium energy. He plays with balls and wand toys. He lived inside and slept in the living room or under the bed. He ate dry Friskies food and got wet cat food as a treat. He’s littertrained, used an automatic litterbox with Fresh Step clumping litter, and didn’t have accidents. He sometimes scratched the couch. Behavior during intake: This cat got out in the admissions office during intake and ran all over the room. After trying to calm the cat down and place food in the back of the carrier the cat got up on the high part of the window and would not move. An ACO eventually got the cat into a carrier by wrapping it with a towel. This cat is very smart. He did not swat or bite. He did hiss and low growl.

02/21/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Caw Slaw’s previous owner reports he is normally pretty shy with strangers, but will warm up after some time. He is gentle when it comes to play time. He had minimal experienced with children, but has been around older kids in the past and did not really interact with them. Reaction to assessor: Caw Slaw was calm and relaxed upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Caw Slaw looks at the assessor and appears tense. He slow blinks afterwards. Reaction to cage door opening: Caw Slaw remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Caw Slaw was hesitant and lowers his head, but he allows gentle petting. He lip licks and shifts his body slightly, but eventually lies down and accepts petting. He still seems tense and unsure of interaction, however. Behavior Determination: Experience Caw Slaw tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
