***SAFE 10/21/16***THIS MILLY ISN’T FRILLY! AND FOR A GENTLEMAN CAT HIS NAME IS QUITE SILLY! He’s just 2 years old and his extreme fear and unwillingness to interact with the observer (who can blame him!)… has put him in the RESCUE ONLY category! If you can contact a New Hope rescue and offer to FOSTER OR ADOPT you will literally be saving his life!!! -And the maybe you can change his name to Billy!

10/18/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Milly was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. The finder reports he will not allow them to approach him. He did not allow handling to be conducted during intake and will attempt to flee and strike when handling was attempted. He was very tense during his initial medical exam, hissing and trying to swat. Reaction to assessor: Milly had a low body posture upon approach and appeared wary of his surroundings. Reaction when softly spoken to: Milly remains flat against the ground, but blinks softly. Reaction to cage door opening: Milly’s ears tilt sideways and he comes stiff and alert. Reaction to touch: Milly hisses at the assessor’s hand when extended and grumbles. He flinches when touched and shifts away, focusing on the hand and lifts his paw to prepare to strike. He lip licks and blinks when the assessor removes their hand. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Milly is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to swat, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment, and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
