WIZ aka LIZ – A1081534
Safe - 7-23-2016 Manhattan Rescue: Feline Rescue of SI Please honor your pledges: http://felinerescueofstatenisland.org/donation/
*** SAFE 07/23/16 *** MINO and WIZ have only been in this world for about 12 weeks’ duration, and probably some of what they’ve seen has been fascinating to them. They certainly must have appreciated the food some lady in the 11214 zip code had been putting out for them, since they kept returning to her yard to enjoy more of it. That all changed when she TRAPPED them, and took them to the ACC, and left them there to be KILLED! Both kittens are understandably nervous at the ACC, but they both rocked out some respectable EXPNOCHILD ratings. Please don’t let these frightened kittens be killed in cold blood, DURING the “Clear the Shelters” event tomorrow—-you know, an event that is designed to put adoptable cats into the arms of people who will love them forever. Why couldn’t the ACC have gone that route with MINO and LIZ? Killing it far too easy, far too predictable, and far too much of their go-to strategy. Please find a FOSTER/ADOPTER for MINO and LIZ tonight!

07/16/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
07/16/16 20:13 5 kittens: A1081531-5 were found in a backyard. They appear to be about 11 weeks old. Their finder was feeding them in her backyard for 1 week. She reports that they run away when she approaches them. She trapped the kittens and brought them to ACC. The kittens were stiff with wide eyes, retreated to the back of their carriers and huddled together. The first one allowed me to pick him/her up and transfer him/her to a new carrier. The second and subsequent kittens resisted as I picked them up and transferred them with towels. They didn’t vocalize.

07/19/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Wiz was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. His finder reports he would run away when approached. He was stiff and had wide eyes upon intake, retreating to the back of her carrier and huddled with his siblings. He allowed handling when wrapped around with a towel, but resisted handling during his initial medical exam and would hiss and swat. Reaction to assessor: Wiz was by the front, but becomes stiff and alert when approached. Reaction when softly spoken to: Wiz continues to focus on the assessor with wide eyes and starts to breathe rapidly. Reaction to cage door opening: Wiz retreats to the back and curls up by the corner, attempting to hide. Reaction to touch: Wiz lowers his body and was hesitant of contact. He becomes immobile when touched and his ears tilt sideways. Behavior Determination: Experienced, No Children Wiz tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
