I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 10/02/2016 from NY 11212, owner surrender reason stated was PERS PROB. I came in with Group/Litter #K16-076509.

10/04/16 10:07 Upon intake Jetta was a fearful and would not leave out of the carrier. When counselor reached in to take him out he hissed and pushed himself to the back of the carrier. Counselor was able to collar and scan after he was given treats. As per the owner Jetta is a bit of a loner. He likes to sit in the window and just look around. He does not like a lot of attention. He allows you to pet him but he does not like to be picked up, if you do pick him up he will immediatly jump from your arms and run. When strangers come around he hides. Jetta uses an open litter. He does not have accidents in the house. He is not very interested in toys. When you introdic them to him he tends to ignore them but if you guve him a toy mouyse he will play himself to sleep. He eats wet and dry food mixed together. Jetta has never bitten or scratched anyone

Reaction to assessor: Jetta was resting in his cubby on his blanket with his tail at his side. Reaction when softly spoken to: Jetta lifts his head up and leans forward to sniff the assessor but seems unsure and doesn’t come forward. Reaction to cage door opening: Jetta remains neutral. Reaction to touch: Jetta slowly approaches the front, sniffs the assessor’s hand and allows petting all over. He brushes up against the assessor, gives gently head butts and appreciates attention. Reaction to being picked up: Jetta was a bit tense when picked up but remains calm and allows all handling. Behavior Determination: Average Jetta interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents. 10/05/16 As per previous owner, Jetta is independent and usually sits by the window and looks out. He doesn’t like a lot of attention and will jump away when picked up. He hides when strangers come by and used an open litter box. Reaction to assessor: Jetta was curled up in the back of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Jetta has wide eyes focused on the assessor, lowers his head and doesn’t come forward. Reaction to cage door opening: Jetta is calm and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Jetta lifts his head up, becomes alert and slowly leans forward to sniff the assessor’s hand. He appears unsure at first but he allows petting all over, slowly leans in for cheek and neck rubs and comes to the front of the kennel. Reaction to being picked up: Jetta was a bit tense when held and is wary of his surroundings. Behavior Determination: Experience Jetta may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
