***SAFE 10/19/16*** IT’S JUST A LITTLE TO EARLY TO BE THINKING CHRISTMAS…BUT YOU CAN ALWAYS HAVE SOME HOLLY AROUND! Sweet, 2 year old, HOLLY was brought into the ACC, after someone saw her eating off the streets. She was “sweet and allowed handling” during intake. But became agitated when she noticed all the other animals around her. Or was it more like she wanted to start a riot, and break them ALL FREE! Regardless, that type of behavior set the wheels in motion for a despicable RESCUE ONLY RATING! NOW, she needs a New Hope rescue and YOU to set her FREE! Contact a New Hope rescue and offer to FOSTER OR ADOPT HOLLY AND BE THE DIFFERENCE TODAY, THAT YOU WERE HOPING FOR TOMORROW!

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Holly was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. Her finder reports she was able to pick her up while she was eating on the streets. She was sweet upon intake and allows all handling, coming to the front to solicit attention from the counselor. She became agitated when noticing other animals, however, and attempted to flee multiple times during her initial medical exam. Reaction to assessor: Holly was inside her den. Reaction when softly spoken to: Holly becomes alert, looking out from a hole with dilated eyes. She does not come out of her den, however. Reaction to cage door opening: Holly remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Holly hisses and growls loudly when the assessor’s hand was extended. She does not allow touch and will attempt to flee when given the chance. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Holly is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
