A volunteer writes: Ginger is a spice, but this Ginger is more spicy. She is so beautiful! She is a beautiful tortie. She loves treats! Give her treats and she is your friend. She likes when you speak to her softly! She likes when you pet her whiskers. Ginger is an independent cat. She has the skills to be a good house cat and be your forever friend. So if beauty and independence are what you are looking for, come to the Manhattan Animal Care Center and meet Ginger.
10/23/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Ginger was brought in with limited information on her behavioral tendencies in a home environment. She has lived with another cat and was reported to be playful with each other. She was described as friendly, affectionate, and playful and she used an old carpet to scratch on. She displayed distance-increasing behaviors during her initial medical exam. Reaction to assessor: Ginger was calm and relaxed upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Ginger looks at the assessor with almond-shaped eyes and blinks softly. Reaction to cage door opening: Ginger becomes alert, but remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Ginger sniffs the assessor’s hand and accepts brief petting, but flinches and shifts away to avoid further contact. She stress meows afterwards and appears wary of her surroundings. Behavior Determination: Experienced, No Children Ginger tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
