12/06/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Felix was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. She allowed all handling and petting upon intake and during her initial medical exam. The enrichment facilitator reports she was lying down upon approach and started purring. She sat up and started kneading when spoken to. She leaned and arched enthusiastically into pets and started to roll over. Reaction to assessor: Felix was calm and relaxed upon approach, but crouches over and wraps her tail tightly against her body. Reaction when softly spoken to: Felix meows softly and her body softens, inching forward slightly, but remains in place and appeared hesitant to come forward. Reaction to cage door opening: Felix remains motionless, but remains soft. Reaction to touch: Felix pushes her head up against the assessor’s hand once touched and arches her back. She leans her entire body against the assessor’s arm and starts to knead and purr. She is very affectionate throughout the interaction. Reaction to being picked up: Felix remains calm and continues to purr when held. Behavior Determination: Average Felix interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
