MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:
07/12/18
Very sweet. Easily handle able. Did well for all medical handling and procedures.
Cage Condition:
Cage is recently cleaned
Reaction to assessor:
Durango was lying down at the back of the kennel, and slow blinks when the assessor approaches.
Reaction when softly spoken to:
Durango lip licks and inches away when the assessor tried coaxing him forward.
Reaction to cage door opening:
Durango maintains eye contact.
Reaction to touch:
Durango seems hesitant, and quickly retreats into his litter box and shrinks his body. He starts breathing rapidly, and flinches slightly when touched. After a few soft pets he starts to relax, leans in for attention and purrs.
Reaction to being picked up:
Durango was a bit tense when picked up, but he remains calm and allows all handling.
ACTIVITY LEVEL:
Mellow
VOCAL:
Quiet
CHARACTER TYPE:
Shy
POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:
Kitten socialization
Potential challenges comments:
Durango is a young cat that may not have had many interactions with humans from an early age. He may be apprehensive of people, but the behavior team believes he has potential to warm up to people. Kittens less than 8 weeks of age can be socialized by almost anyone; however, kittens between 2-4 months may require more time and skill in order for them to be comfortable around people. Please speak to an adoption counselor to learn more about socialization techniques.
