Safe - 3-12-2017 Brooklyn
SAFE 3/12/17 Meeting this lucky black cat will make your day. She is a little reserved at first, but a nice game of chase-the-feather will have her loosened up in no time. Day is a lovely kitten, who made soft purring sounds as I stroked her glossy fur. Please don’t delay, come in and seize the Day.

11/21/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Day was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. Her finder reports she has been roaming around their yard and has been feeding her. She attempted to flee upon intake and allowed minimal handling. The medical team also reported she hissed and attempted to flee and was tense and nervous during the initial medical exam. Reaction to assessor: Day was lying down, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Day initially looks at the assessor with wide eyes, but she slowly lowers her gaze. Reaction to cage door opening: Day becomes alert, but remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Day was hesitant and retreats to the back, lowering her body in anticipation, but she allows gentle petting and slowly warms up. She begins to purr, approaches the front, and head-butts the assessor. She becomes tense with any sudden movement or sounds, but seems to really appreciate petting and attention. Reaction to pick up: Day is tense during pick up and struggles to be placed back down. She’ll continue to solicit attention after, but may need to be coaxed. Behavior Determination: Experience Day appreciates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
