Cuddles A1102217 – 6 yr. female gray tabby, stray

Microchip scan neg.
O: QAR, clear head injury and became fractious with handling likely due to pain. HR=240, RR=60, no murmurs/arrhythmias. Lungs clear, no dyspnea.
Sedated with Telazol 0.06 ml IM to facilitate exam.
Buprenorphine 0.3 mg/ml 0.2 ml Sq administered.
ORAL: All adult teeth erupted, mod. calculus and gingivitis maxiallary and mandibular premolars/molars. Small piece of broken tooth in oral cavity.
EENT: OD – proptosed globe. Marked soft tissue swelling around eye, does not appear ruptured. Mild bleeding and dried blood on medial canthus, extending to nose. OS – WNL except mild chemosis and bleeding in medial canthus. No nasal discharge or bleeding.
H/L: As above.
ABD/UG: Female, no spay scar evident. Abd palpation WNL.
MS: Prior to sedation – amb x 4, no lameness. BCS=4/9
INTEG: Several scabbed wounds over right lat. temporal region, mild bleeding. Sensitive when touched even under sedation.
A: Head wounds and proptosed eye. Suspect trauma likely due to HBC.
P: Convenia 80 mg/ml 0.2 ml SQ.
Cleaned wounds with chlorhexidene.
Applied Terramycin ointment OU.
Continue Buprenorphine 0.2 ml SQ BID x 5 days.
Continue Terramycin OU BID x 5 days.
Lat/VD skull rads: No skull or mandibular fractures visible.
Rec. placement. Will likely need enucleation OS.
Good prognosis with appropriate therapy.
