SAFE 9/21/17 CHECKERS is an older kitten who is friendly and was brought in with another cat. He has a URI and a superficial wound which is healing on its own. Checkers would like a home and some TLC so he will feel better.

Medical Summary DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: 4-5 mos Microchip noted on Intake? no History: Kitten found as stray – sick. Subjective: Cat is Q/BARH. Observed Behavior – Readily approaches handler. Little restraint required for examination, active and moving, but not fighting restraint. Allows all body parts to be touched without signs of discomfort. No “warm up” time needed. Curious, intrested in exploring environment, but easily focused back on people. Evidence of Cruelty seen – no Evidence of Trauma seen – no Objective T = NA P = wnl R = wnl BCS 4/9 EENT: Eyes mild epiphora and dark crusts at medial canthus OU, ears clean, bilateral mucopurulent nasal discharge Oral Exam: Gingivitis and food debris stuck around mandibular pre-molars; no oral lesions noted. PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: wnl; both testicles palpable scrotally MSI: Ambulatory x 4, mild flea dirt but no live fleas seen, no masses noted, <1cm patch of alopecia above OD (does not light up on woodslamp), <1cm scab left mid-dorsum. CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: not performed Assessment: URI, Alopecia, Superficial wound Plan: Performed DTM on alopecic lesion – schedule daily checks. Move to ISO. Start Doxycycline 0.5 mLs by mouth every 24 hours x 10d – gave 1st dose. Recheck at 7 and 10 days. Superficial wound appears to be resolving on own, no tx needed at this time.
