CHARO – A1062985
Gone - 2-1-2016 Manhattan
*** GONE 02/01/16 *** NOT JUST ANOTHER “COOCHIE-COOCHIE” GIRL….CHARO IS BOLD AND INDEPENDENT LIKE HER NAMESAKE….A staff member writes: Charo is a lovely young cat who knows exactly what she wants in life and aims to get it! Her previous owners described her as bold and independent, and we can definitely see that streak in her here at the care center! Charo has opened up to us during her stay here, and is now rolling on her back and asking for pets. However, she can be overstimulated a bit easily. Due to this we think Charo would thrive in a quiet home with someone who has plenty of cat experience so that she can be the wonderful diva she truly is. If you think you are ready for a spunky companion, come on down to our Manhattan Care Center to meet this black and white beauty today!…ADD SOME SPICY CAT MOVES TO YOUR HOME LIFE AND APPLY TO FOSTER OR ADOPT CHARO TONIGHT!!

01/19/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Charo’s former owner described her as friendly, independent and bold. She lived with her owner for a month along with adults and 3 other cats. Charo did not interact with children during this time. Charo is described as friendly with her owner however she stays to herself. Charo is tolerant of the three other cats and considered the dominant cat in the house. When Charo enters the room, the other cats scatter, so they never play or relax with each other. Reaction to assessor: Charo looks neutral, crouched position in her cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Charo remains crouched position, alert with soft eyes. Reaction to touch: Charo stands with tail up, head-butts the assessor’s hand, but during the touch along the back she attempts to nip then hiss while she continues to solicit attention. Placement determination: Experience / no child Initially Charo solicits petting and attention, but after a few soft passes over the body she begins to moderatly nip and hiss at the assessor. This may be a sign of petting-induced aggression, where repeated physical contact results in discomfort for the cat, or it may be a sign of overstimulation. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Charo becomes reactive. Treats should be used to reward appropriate responses to physical attention.
