***SAFE 04/12/16*** SUPER SWEET SENIOR GINGERBREAD MAN NEEDS NEW FRIEND–BE CAMRON’S HERO! A volunteer writes, “Camron’s previous owner said that he is gentle, relaxed, and sometimes affectionate. He is the more independent type, and will let you know when he would like some attention. He has been around young children and will tolerate them, but generally he will hide from them. He is having some difficulty adjusting to the noisy environment at the Center, and would do best in a quieter home with parents who have some experience with cats. When I met him, he was shy at first but warmed up and let me pet him, which was very enjoyable for both of us, I dare say.” This darling 12 yo neutered boy was purchased (ugh)at a pet store when he was a kitten and dumped at the shelter when his former owner decided to move without taking the longtime faithful feline friend along. Now that Camron has caught the dreaded (but easily curable) kitty cold, he has made it to the at-risk list and needs us to help write a happy ending to his sad “tail.” Can you be the “author” of Camron’s next adventure by offering him a loving, retirement home? You will undoubtedly be rewarded with lots of love and affection by this sweetheart. You can reserve Camon online or contact a New Hope rescue. Transportation is available. Email our help desk for assistance–[email protected] and we will help you make Camron a new member of your family. Everyone knows orange boys are the sweetest and we know Camron is no exception. So make the call for this super sweet senior gingerbread man NOW!!!

03/29/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
03/29/16 20:30 Basic Info: Camron A1068813 is a 12yr old neutered orange tabby DSH feline who was purchased at a pet store 12yrs ago & is being surrendered due to the owner moving to where pets aren’t allowed. Camron was last seen by a veterinarian a couple of years ago and currently has no health issues/injuries. Socialization: Around strangers Camron is shy for a few minutes. He’s spent time with children ages ranging from newborn-3yrs & he would let them pet him briefly then he would hide from them. With the adults he was gentle, relaxed & affectionate (at times) with them. Camron hasn’t been around other animals nor has he bitten/scratched any person or animal. Behavior: Camron hasn’t been on a car ride. He isn’t bothered by the following: being brushed or with placed into a carrier. He hasn’t been given a bath since he was a kitten, had his nails trimmed, or been disturbed while sleeping/resting. Camron doesn’t like to be picked up/held too much, he will come to you when he wants affection/attention, he’s just a chill laid back cat. For a New Family to Know: Camron is described as friendly (at times), playful (at times), confident & quiet with a low activity level. When the owner is home Camron follows them around. He enjoys ball & mouse toys at times and is an indoor only cat that sleeps with the owner. Camron eats dry & wet Purina Cat Chow 1 full bowl throughout the day. He is uncovered litter box trained with crystal & pellet litter within. Camron has a scratching post that he doesn’t always use (the owner even put cat nip on it to get him to use it more) & scratches on a fabric chair & a wooden doorknob scratcher. Intake Behavior: Camron had a soft body & soft eyes initially but once he noticed the other cats he allowed minimal handling. We had to take his picture in his kennel to reduce his stress and collar him with a towel.

04/01/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Cameron is reported to be gentle, relaxed and sometimes affectionate with adults and tolerant but a little afraid of young children (newborn to 3 years). He is initially shy around strangers. He does not like being picked up or held at length and approaches when he wants attention. Camron is described as friendly (at times), playful (at times), confident and quiet, with a low activity level. He did not seem to care for his scratching post but would scratch on one that hung from a doorknob, and would also sometimes scratch on a fabric chair. Cameron his shown some conflicted behavior in the care center, alternately soliciting attention by rubbing on the bars or on a caretaker’s outstretched hand, and then growling and hissing. He appears to be acclimating well to the shelter environment as he was more comfortable and social during his behavior evaluation several days later. Reaction to assessor: Camron is resting in his cage. Reaction to cage door opening: Remains in place, body soft. Reaction to touch: Camron is initially a bit timid but he warms up quickly, allowing pets on his head and then standing and approaching the front of the cage. He then allows petting along the body as well. Placement determination: Experience Camron tolerates attention and petting but needs a considerable acclimation period and appears to be somewhat stressed in the shelter environment. Notes from his previous owner about being uncomfortable with very young children and with being picked up and held should be taken into consideration, and Camron will need to warm up to his new home and new family at his own pace. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
