10/24/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Bell Flower’s previous owner reports she is fearful when strangers visit the home and will hide. She warms up after a few minutes, however, and slowly approaches them to sniff them. She has never been around small children, but has lived with five adults. She will lean in, rub, and meow for attention. She has also lived with six cats and they all lived in harmony, engaging in play. She allows the owner to pick her up, but will hide in the bedroom when new people visit and will hide under the bed with loud noises. She was described as a mellow, affectionate, and playful cat. She enjoys lounging around and playing chase with the other cats in the home. She loves to play with stuffed toys and strings, but also enjoys looking out the window. Reaction to assessor: Bell Flower was resting by the back, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Bell Flower looks at the assessor and blinks softly. Reaction to cage door opening: Bell Flower remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Bell Flower sniffs the assessor’s hand, but lowers her head and body in anticipation of touch. She curls up during petting and twitches slightly when touched on her lower back, but would lean in for rubs and seems to appreciate attention. Behavior Determination: Experienced Bell Flower tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents, who will allow her appropriate adjustment time as she acclimates to her new home.
