**SAFE 06/23/16** BATMAN NEEDS A HERO TONIGHT!! This is the ULTIMATE BETRAYAL!! BATMAN’s owner stated that he felt BATMAN was depressed living with them and they have no time for him!! How cruel! Meanwhile read all the owner’s notes and you see they NEVER had time for him – but yet they brought another kitten in the home! BATMAN was given to them as a gift – first mistake – and then basically never vetted, bathed, or had any attention for all the time he was with them. He was said to be gentle, affectionate, playful and good with the other kitten. He was good with young children too. BATMAN also had perfect house manners. But now that this owner dumped him, BATMAN was punished with a NEW HOPE ONLY rating because he is upset and growled at the assessor’s fake hand! WE NEED A SUPER HERO FOR BATMAN TONIGHT. YOU CAN SAVE HIS LIFE NOW BY OFFERING TO ADOPT OR FOSTER. EMAIL THE HELP DESK NOW AT [email protected] FOR RESCUE INFO.

06/20/16 13:21 Basic Info: Batman A10781176 is a 3yr old male black DSH feline who was given to the owner as a gift from a family member 3yrs ago & is being surrendered due to the owner feeling Batman is depressed living with them & they have no time for him. Batman was last seen by a veterinarian 2yrs ago and currently has had fleas within the past two weeks & losing hair. Also for the past 4months he isn’t eating much and when he does he vomits; Batman hasn’t been to a vet concerning these issues but was given a flea bath last week. Socialization: Around strangers Batman is shy for a few minutes. He’s spent time with children ages 4 & 7yrs & he would run/hide from them sometimes or he was relaxed and allowed petting. With the adults he lived with Batman was gentle, relaxed & affectionate with. He hasn’t been around other dogs but was playful and sweet with a female kitten that was brought into the home 4-5months ago but as of lately he’s been hiding from her. According to the owner no fights or any issues have occured between them before these behaviors began. Batman hasn’t bitten/scratched any person or animal. Behavior: Batman isn’t bothered by the following: being brushed, being picked up held (more so by adults or older kids) or with being placed into a carrier. He hasn’t been given a bath since he was a kitten, had his nails trimmed, or been disturbed while sleeping/resting. For a New Family to Know: Batman is described as “slow”, friendly, playful (at times), confident & talkative with a low activity level. When the owner is home Batman follows them around sometimes. He enjoys ball toys at times and is an indoor only cat that sleeps under the bed. Batman eats dry & wet Purina Cat Chow 1-2x a day (when he does eat). He is uncovered litter box trained with clumping litter within. He uses a wooden base board at the owner’s bedroom door as a scratching post. Intake Behavior: Batman had a soft body & soft eyes initially and allowed to scanned (-) and taken pictures but had to be placed into the kennel as I went to make his collar and return the carrier to the owner, which was done without concern or issues. Once I attempted to remove him or at least try to collar him in the kennel Batman became tense and began hissing and growling, due to his reason I was unable to collar him.

06/22/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Batman’s former owner stated around strangers he is shy for a few minutes. He’s spent time with children ages 4 & 7yrs & he would run/hide from them sometimes or he was relaxed and allowed petting. With the adults he lived with Batman was gentle, relaxed & affectionate with. He hasn’t been around other dogs but was playful and sweet with a female kitten that was brought into the home 4-5months ago, but as of lately he’s been hiding from her. Also, described as “slow”, friendly, playful (at times), confident & talkative with a low activity level. Reaction to assessor: Batman looks tense in the cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Batman remains hiding in the cat den, alert with pupils dilated. Reaction to touch: Batman does not allow the stroke, hisses and growls at the assessor’s hand. Placement determination: NH ONLY Batman is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. He is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
