06/18/17 19:04 Basic Info Avari is a three year old DSh whose owner was having housing complications and could not keep her. She last saw a vet on 2/17. Socialization Avari is shy around strangers and hides when they come over and does not come out for a few hours or until they are gone. She has lived with children ages 10 and one and she is relaxed around them and interacts with them. She does not play much but is gentle when she does. She has not been around cats or dogs before. She has never bitten a person or animal before. Behavior Avari scratches on furniture made of upholstery and does not have any litter box issues. She does not get baths but gets wiped down with wet wipes with cat shampoo and she allows this. Avari enjoys being brushed and is not bothered by being held for short periods and then she will jump down when she has had enough. New Family Avari has a high level of energy at home and likes to follow owners around the house and be in the same room as them. She enjoys playing with balls containing bells and toys with catnip. She is kept solely indoors. She sleeps on a cat bed or in her owners bed. She is fed meow mix dry food three to four times daily. She has an uncovered litter box but is fine with using a hooded litter box as well. She uses fresh step crystal litter. Avari had a scratch post made of carpet that she used but she still scratched on furniture. Intake Behavior Avari leans into pets and head-butts counselor and is very alert when let out of the carrier, looking around the room. She allowed all handling but pulled away and gave soft swats when putting on collar. She was fine with being held and scanned.
