11/21/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Aspen was brought in without information on his behavioral tendencies in his previous home. He attempted to run and hide during intake, and did not like being picked up. The medical team reports he was tense and nervous, hissing and trying to flee during his initial medical exam. Reaction to assessor: Aspen was lying down, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Aspen lowers his gaze and blinks softly. Reaction to cage door opening: Aspen becomes tense, but remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Aspen starts to breathe rapidly as the assessor extends their hand, but sniffs it when placed in front of him. He was hesitant of contact, but allows gentle petting, slowly leaning in for cheek rubs and closing his eyes. Behavior Determination: Experienced Aspen tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
