ARA – A1089001
Gone - 9-13-2016 Brooklyn
***GONE 09/13/16*** ARA WAS TRAPPED AND DUMPED! “His finder was able to bring him to the Care Center in a trap”……No, that reads wrong – it should say, “His trapper was able to dump him in the KILL CENTER in a trap”….. Why is it that people feel they must trap every stray cat they see and send them to their death? ARA also got a second blow to his chances when he tested positive for FIV. But FIV is not a death sentence. FIV kitties can live with non-FIV cats and live long happy lives. ARA may have been someone’s abandoned pet and he is not happy about being in the shelter. He was given an EXPNOCHILD rating because he avoided any contact but was not aggressive. ARA needs you to give him a chance to experience what it is like to have a happy safe and loving home. CAN YOU GIVE ARA A DEATH ROW PARDON NOW? PLEASE CONTACT A RESCUE TO GIVE THIS BOY A HAPPY ENDING TO HIS STORY.

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Ara was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. His finder was able to bring him to the care center in a trap, but he was unable to be handled upon intake and attempted to flee. He hissed and growled during his initial medical exam and tried to escape, becoming increasingly more agitated throughout the handling process. Reaction to assessor: Ara was lying down by the back, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Ara looks at the assessor, and then averts his gaze. Reaction to cage door opening: Ara becomes alert and sits up. Reaction to touch: Ara was hesitant of contact, but allows brief petting on his head. He quickly shifts away afterwards with a low body, and squeezes into the back corner and lip licks. Placement Determination: Experienced, No Children Ara tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
