TOBBY – A1079237

*** GONE 07/21/16 ***CHOCOLATE PURRSONALITY PLUS NEEDS A FOSTER OR ADOPTER TONIGHT! Meet TOBBY, a gorgeous cocoa-colored vision whose ACC notes are an absolute disgrace. Supposedly belonging to one family since he was a kitten, yet taken to the shelter as a “stray,” this stunner is accused of having nipped someone in his former home. This guy is 2 years young and may not have been socialized properly, reading between the lines on his owner surrender notes, but rather than step back a few paces and teach him how to play nice, those folks just SLAPPED him into a high-kill center and went about their merry way. That was way back near the end of June and TOBBY has languished at the ACC all that time, while the people he pines for probably got themselves a new kitten off of Craigslist. TOBBY is an indoor cat who “plays like a dog,” and he is counting on YOU to help save his life tonight!

07/06/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, Tobby is described as energetic yet solitary. He lived with children aged 5 and 10 years old. Tobby was tolerant of the children but plays rough. He will play nip while being petted. Tobby is an indoor cat only and has never interacted with other animals. Tobby spends most of the day climbing onto the highest surfaces in the home like the kitchen cabinets. His owner stated that he allows minimal petting on his head however once he becomes overstimulated and will swipe and nip. So Tobby’s family waits for him to approach them when he wants attention. Reaction to assessor: Tobby ignores the assessor and looks around with dilated eyes. Reaction when softly spoken to: Tobby ignores the assessor and looks around with dilated eyes. Reaction to cage door opening: Tobby remains motionless and does not respond. Reaction to touch: Tobby solicits petting and attention – rubbing against the assessor’s hand, but stiffens in place and becomes alert when pet along the body instead of the head. Tobby is social and affectionate but appears to be easily overstimulated and is reported to play roughly. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Tobby becomes overstimulated. We also recommend fishing pole-type toys for play as they allow for interaction and vigorous, stimulating exercise while keeping human hands at a distance. Behavior Determination: Experienced, No Children Tobby may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center and from the information provided by his previous owners, we recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents and without children.
