TERRYCLOTH aka LEATHER FACE – A1063353
Safe - 1-27-2016 Staten Island Rescue: Happy Homes Please honor your pledges: http://www.happyhomesinc.org/
**SAFE 01/27/16** He’s already NEUTERED so he is ready to walk out the front door to freedom tomorrow—where is the FOSTER or ADOPTER who can save his life? TERRYCLOTH is only about 4 months old and is understandably rattled at the shelter. Given how young he is, this pretty tabby should be able to decompress in a new setting and then become someone’s best friend! Please advocate widely for Terrycloth, tonight!

01/20/16 17:42 Profile wasn’t left due to animal being stray. Behavior During Intake: Terrycloth was brought into the facility in a trap provided by the finder. Upon arrival Terrycloth was thrashing around the trap in attempts to flee. When I extended my hand to see if it would allow handling Terrycloth hissed and fled in the opposite direction. Due to this behavior I wasn’t able to handle Leather Face at the time of intake.

01/25/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Terrycloth came to the shelter as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. Upon intake, Terrycloth attempted to flee and did not allow handling. Reaction to assessor: Terrycloth is hiding in his den. Reaction when softly spoken to: Terrycloth continues to hide, looks out at assessor, alert. Reaction to cage door opening: Terrycloth tenses up, paws tucked beneath him. Reaction to touch: Terrycloth moves away to avoid handling and attempts to flee cage, allows minimal petting. Placement Determination: Experience No Child Terrycloth avoids interaction with the assessor and appears to be fearful of handling. Terrycloth is exhibiting behavior suited to experienced cat parents with no children. 1/26 update: Terrycloth is not allowing handling or touch and appears to be undersocialized. She is not thriving in the shelter environment and needs to move into a stable home environment with very experienced adopters – preferably experienced in socializing young cats – who can help Terrycloth adjust to her new home and new family and to gain trust in human interaction.
